The collection we acquired includes "Head of a Woman" a representative works by Aoki Shigeru, "Portrait of Mr. S" and "Gate and Plants and Road" by Kishida Ryusei, plus many western-style paintings made by notable Japanese painters at present. There are even craft works by Tomimoto Kenkichi, Kawai Unosuke and Fujii Tatsukichi in this colleciton.
This exhibition introduces a full view of the original Shibakawa Collection with important works, such as "Road Cut Through a Hill" by Kishida Ryusei (Important Cultural Property, The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo) and "Enjoyment" by Aoki Shigeru (Ohara Museum of Art), that centered on this collection and its contribution to the history of Japanese modern art.
