Curatorial Studies 14: SUDA Kunitaro Meditations on Realism and Truth
2020.10.08 thu. - 12.20 sun.
SUDA Kunitaro, one of the most prominent Kyoto Western-style painters, was also a scholar of aesthetics and an art historian. He enrolled in Kyoto Imperial University’s Department of Philosophy as part of his studies to become a painter, and found his own path by exploring ideas about realism. While looking back on some of his meditations, viewers can trace the evolution of his unique painting style through works from the museum’s collection.
