Secession, built by Joseph Maria Olbrich as the headquarters of the Vienna Secession at the end of the nineteenth century, has not only become a prominent landmark of Vienna but also a venue hosting the activities of contemporary artists.  The former director of Secession, Barbara Holub, is an artist herself.  She also has many ongoing projects as “transparadiso,” with fellow members Paul Rajakovics and Bernd Vlay.  On this occasion, Holub will speak about artistic strategies in relation to art institutions and to interventions in the urban sphere—a hot topic in Europe today—providing both Austrian and international examples to illustrate her point.
